羅伯特。弗羅斯特是我(富爸爸窮爸爸作者羅伯特)最喜歡的詩人,雖然我喜愛他的許多詩,但最喜歡的還是下面這首「未選之路」。每當我讀起這首詩,我都能從中得到某些啟發:

未選之路
林中兩路分,可惜難兼行。遊子久佇立,極目望一徑。
蜿蜒復曲折,隱於叢林中。我選另一途,合理亦公正。
草密人跡罕,正待人通行。足跡踏過處,兩路皆相同。
兩路林中伸,落葉無人蹤。我選一路走,深知路無窮。
我疑從今後,能否轉回程。數十年之後,談起常歎息。
林中兩路分,一路人跡稀。我獨選此路,境遇乃相異。

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,And sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler, long I stoodAnd looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth;Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim,Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing thereHad worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally layIn leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day!Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by,And that has made all the difference.
選擇不同,命運也是不同的。
這麼多年以來,我時常回味弗羅斯特的這首詩。的確,選擇不聽從受過高等教育的爸爸在錢上的建議和態度是一個痛苦的決定,但這個決定塑造了我的餘生。
